- User name: your full email address, for example
info@yourdomain.com - Password: the password of that email account
- Outgoing server: needs authentication, with the same user name and password
IMAP or POP3?
Choose IMAP: your mail stays on the server, so every device sees the same folders and what you read or delete on one device shows on all. POP3 downloads mail to one device and is only useful if you want exactly that.
Tips per program
- Outlook: if it does not find the settings by itself, choose manual setup, IMAP, and enter the table above.
- Apple Mail (Mac, iPhone, iPad): add an account, Other, Add Mail Account; after the first attempt, enter the server names for incoming and outgoing mail.
- Android: in your mail app add an account of type Other / IMAP, then the settings above.
- Thunderbird: enter name, address and password; if the found settings differ, use Configure manually.
If it does not work
- Check the password in webmail first: Use webmail. If webmail works, the problem is in the device's settings.
- A space before or after the address, or only the part before the @ as user name, are common mistakes.
- The Logins tab of the mail log shows every login and failed login to your accounts, with the IP address it came from.
