Domain registration and renewal

Updated 1 hour ago 2 views

You can register a new domain with us, or transfer one you already have, when you order. Domains are registered for one year or more and renewed through your client area.

When you register or transfer a domain with us

Once the order is active:

  • the domain is registered (or the transfer starts) in your name
  • WHOIS privacy is switched on, so your personal contact details are not published in the public domain directory
  • a DNS zone is created on our name servers with records for our servers: the domain itself and www point to our web servers, and mail goes to our mail servers

Where to find your domains

Open Control Panel in the client area: your domains are listed under Domains, with their expiry dates. Each domain's page shows its registration (name servers, WHOIS privacy, transfer lock) and, when we host its DNS, its records: Manage your DNS records.

Name servers and the contact details of the domain are changed on its registration page: the Registration button in the list, or Services and the domain's order.

Renewal

Before a domain expires you receive an invoice for the renewal. Pay it in time: an expired domain stops working, your website and email with it, and after a grace period it can be lost or become expensive to restore. Keep the email address of your client account up to date so renewal invoices reach you.

The Control Panel flags a domain that expires within 30 days, and shows Pay renewal while its renewal invoice is waiting. To renew earlier, use Renew Now on the domain's registration page: it creates the invoice right away.

Transfers

  • To us: order a domain transfer and enter the authorisation code (EPP code) from your current registrar. Unlock the domain there first.
  • Away from us: open a ticket and ask for the authorisation code; we unlock the domain for you.

A transfer can take up to a week. Your website and email keep working meanwhile if the DNS stays the same.

Domains registered elsewhere

They work with our hosting too: see Point a domain to our servers.
