You upload and manage your website's files over SFTP (secure file transfer), with any SFTP program: FileZilla,
WinSCP (Windows), Cyberduck (Mac and Windows), or sftp in a terminal. Logins use an SSH key, not a password.
Connection details
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Protocol | SFTP (SSH file transfer), not FTP |
| Server | services.maplegrovepartners.com |
| Port | 22 |
| User name | your account's user name, shown under SFTP and SSH keys |
| Authentication | your SSH key |
The Control Panel shows the same under SFTP and SSH keys, including a ready-made sftp command.
Before your first login, add your public key to your account: Create an SSH key and add it to your account.
FileZilla
- Edit, Settings, SFTP, Add key file and choose your private key (FileZilla can convert a PuTTY
.ppkor OpenSSH key). - File, Site Manager, New site: protocol SFTP, host
services.maplegrovepartners.com, port 22, logon type Key file (or Normal with the key added in step 1), your user name. - Connect. Accept the server's key the first time.
WinSCP
New session: protocol SFTP, host name and port as above, your user name; Advanced, SSH, Authentication:
your private key file (.ppk). Then Login.
Where your files go
After you log in you are in your account's home folder. Each website has a folder named after its domain, for example
yourdomain.com: put the site's files (such as index.php or index.html) inside that folder. Domains and
sites shows each site's folder.
Good to know
- The same server name works after a failover between our data centres; you do not have to change anything.
- Never share your private key. If a computer with your key is lost, remove that key under SFTP and SSH keys.
- Uploads count towards your plan's disk space, shown at the top of the Control Panel.
