Requests: how changes to your hosting are made

Updated 10 hours ago 2 views

Most of what you do in the Control Panel takes effect immediately. Changes to the web server itself are carried out as requests: some run automatically within a minute, others are checked by our staff first.

What happens right away

  • everything about email: creating, changing and deleting email accounts, passwords, forwarders, the catch-all
  • DNS records (for domains whose DNS we host)

What runs automatically as a request

These usually complete within a minute:

  • issuing or renewing an HTTPS certificate
  • creating a MySQL database
  • changing PHP settings

What our staff review first

  • adding a domain or subdomain to your hosting, or removing one
  • adding or removing an SSH key
  • resetting the database password

Reviews usually happen within a working day. We check, for example, that a domain you add is not already in use by someone else.

Following your requests

The Requests tile lists every request with its status:

Status Meaning
Awaiting approval waiting for our staff; you can still Cancel it
Queued, In progress being carried out
Done finished; the details say what was done
Declined our staff did not carry it out; the details say why
Failed, Rejected something went wrong; our staff are notified, or contact us

When a request creates a password for you (for example the first database), Show password appears next to it. The password is shown once: save it right away.

Good to know

  • The same request cannot be made twice while one is still open.
  • A change you made by mistake can often be undone with another request, for example removing a domain you just added.
