Our Bitwarden product is a password manager that runs on our servers just for you: a private vault for your passwords, notes and other secrets, which you use with the official Bitwarden apps and browser extensions.
Ordering
When you order, you choose a subdomain: the first part of your vault's address. It may use lower-case letters,
digits and hyphens; some names are reserved (such as www, mail or admin). Once the order is active, your vault
is set up automatically, with its own address and HTTPS certificate. This usually takes a few minutes.
You find your vault's address in the client area, in the Container Apps Dashboard: see The Container Apps Dashboard.
Getting started
- Open your vault's address in a browser.
- Create your account in the vault and choose a strong master password. Write it down somewhere safe: it cannot be recovered, not even by us, because your vault is encrypted with it.
- Install the Bitwarden apps you want (browser extension, phone, desktop). In each, before signing in, choose the self-hosted server setting and enter your vault's address.
Good to know
- Your vault is encrypted on your devices before anything reaches our servers; we cannot read its contents.
- Turn on two-step login in the vault's settings for extra protection.
- Export your vault from time to time (in the vault: Tools, Export vault) and keep the file in a safe place, and always before using Reset in the Container Apps Dashboard.
- If the vault does not open, check the Container Apps Dashboard first, then contact us with its address.
